Conka dog fencing
Tell us the gap. We'll tell you the fence.
Folding or permanent, six heights, two mesh sizes and any length you like. Answer five questions and we'll name the exact one.
Fence Finder
Drawn to scale1 How is it going to stand up?
2 Who's it keeping in?
3 How high?
4 How long is the gap?
Permanent fencing is built from 1m panels between posts, so it is only made to whole metre lengths — feet are not an option on this one.
5 Do you need a gate?
The gate is two horizontal panels that overlap each other, so it slides open within the run rather than swinging out into the garden.
5 Where is it going?
The bit everyone gets wrong
A 6ft fence is six panels — but nine feet of mesh.
Folding panels are half a metre wide and stand on that half-metre edge. Erected, they concertina, so the run zig-zags rather than lying flat. Six panels laid flat would reach nearly 10ft; stood up in their proper zig-zag they close a 6ft gap. That is why we sell by the gap you measured, not by the metre of mesh. Permanent fencing works the other way round: 1m wide panels bolted flat between posts, so a 6m run really is 6m of fence.
The gap, not the fence
Tape measure across the opening you want closed. That number is what you order. Corners are free — the panels hinge, so an L-shape costs the same as a straight run.
The zig-zag is the structure
Nothing holds a folding fence up except its own shape. Flatten it out and it falls over. Tighten the zig-zag and it stiffens — which is why the campsite range packs more panels into the same span.
As long as you need
A fence is just panels clipped together. Past the longest single listing we make the rest up with extension panels in the same height and mesh.
The one safety decision
Mesh size, before anything else.
Height stops a jumper. Mesh stops a squeezer. Puppies and small breeds go through a gap long before they go over a fence, so settle this first.
50mm mesh
Squares too small for a puppy's head or a small breed's shoulders. Available in every height from 50cm to 1.5m. If your dog has ever squeezed through anything, this is the one.
100 × 125mm mesh
Lighter, cheaper and much less visible from the house. Right for medium and large dogs who will respect a barrier rather than test every inch of it.
Before you order
The questions that stop people buying.
How do I measure a run that turns a corner?
Measure each straight section and add them together. The panels hinge at every join, so corners cost nothing extra and you do not need special parts.
Why can I only order permanent fencing in metres?
Permanent runs are built from panels 1m wide by 0.5m high, bolted between posts, so the fence can only ever be a whole number of metres long. Rounding a foot measurement would leave you a part panel short, so the finder switches to metres as soon as you choose a permanent option.
How does the gate work?
It is two horizontal panels that overlap one another, so the gate opens inside the line of the fence instead of swinging out. It takes up one metre of your measured run, so order the full length you measured and the gate sits within it.
Is there a maximum length?
No. A run goes as far as you need it to. Past the longest single listing we make the remainder up with extension panels in the same height and mesh, and they clip straight on.
What comes in the box?
Every fence arrives with its panels and clips. Outdoor fences also include a fixing kit, and permanent fences include their posts. Delivery to the UK mainland is free, whatever you order.
What if I measured wrong?
Extension panels are sold from a single panel upwards in every height, so a short run is a few pounds to fix rather than a reorder.
Will my dog knock it over?
A folding run stands on the rigidity of its own zig-zag plus ground stakes. If your dog leans or barges, anchor one end to a wall, post or drainpipe — or move up to a permanent fence, which is either driven into the ground or bolted to hard standing.
What is different about the campsite range?
More panels for the same span, so the zig-zag sits tighter and holds its shape in wind. A 4ft campsite fence uses six panels where the garden version uses four.
